UPDATE FROM THE VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE JUNE 2015

The new Village Hall committee has been in place a number of months now and although we may not have been highly visible we’ve been working away behind the scenes to maintain the high standards set by the Ray and Michael, and also looking at what new things we can do to keep the Village Hall at the heart of South Kilworth life and improve the facilities we provide.

We’ve reviewed all of the charges and as you can see from the list below we’ve kept them as low as possible. We’ve overseen a number of great events at the Hall such as Burns Night, the Safari Supper and the Fish and Chip Thank You Supper, and supported FOSKS in running an extremely successful Sid East Tournament in March. Football remains central to the weekend activities and Lee Tebbatt has thrown himself into his role as contact point for the football fixtures and Saturday training.

For those who haven’t been up to the hall recently you may not know that the decking by the bowls club has been replaced – and thanks must go to Gerry Byrne and the Bowls Club for sorting that one out – so you can now enjoy the full benefits of our English summer and the South Kilworth Bowls Club from the comfort of the new decking!

We’re looking at a number of future initiatives such as Superfast Broadband for the Village Hall, now that it’s finally arrived in South Kilworth, and an on-line booking system. More to come on these in future months as we make progress.

Finally we’d love to hear from you about how we can improve our Village Hall and make it more welcoming – whether it’s settees in the corner for coffee and wi-fi or paving the area outside so that we can put table and chairs out – all ideas will be gratefully received.

It was built in 2001 to replace the “old village hall” after many years of fundraising. Large open plan with a fitted kitchen, bar, 2 changing rooms and a meeting rooms. Plus large separate male and female toilets as well as 2 football pitches.

For a full list of Village Hall events please visit the village diary page which is updated monthly

The hall is available to hire to the public at a fee.

The community meet once a month to discuss coming events, maintenance and any issues.

The new village hall replaces the old hall which was at the top of Welford Road along the foot path behind Monty Bellow.
