This modern Village Hall was built in 2000 replacing the old village reading room, bequeathed to the village under an educational deed. The present hall is disability friendly and has a large main Hall (with stage) for up to 80 siting and 150 standing, plus a licenced bar. There is meeting /committee room for up to 16, cloakroom, toilets and a disabled toilet.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven /fridge -freezer /microwave and warming draws and enough place settings for 80. It is more suited for preparation and service, rather than having full catering facilities. There are also have two changing rooms for sports activities, one of which has two hot and cold showers.
We have ample off-road parking with a large car park. The attached playing fields, although owned by the Parish Council are available for are use as well. A floodlit muti -sport facility is presently being built next to the hall.
The purpose of the village hall is to enable local villagers to have a place to meet for educational and entertainment purposes. It is run by management committee made up of people from the village and is in regular use. There is an AGM in April every year at which the committee is elected we are always looking for new members. So if you have an interest in helping us out, we would love to hear from you. The committee's aim is not only to make the hall a viable a welcoming building, that enables a range of activities to take place, but all to put on 3 to 4 functions every year to enable villagers to get together, socialise and have fun. These are always advertised in South Kilworth News magazine.
Our rates and booking conditions are listed below. Also note that we are in full is insured with public liability insurance but unfortunately cannot cover hire of bouncy castles, fireworks or bonfires.
There is plenty of things to do around the Village Hall. Why not try out the adult fitness course with equipment funded by the annual grant from Vattenfall, the windfarm owner. For kids there’s some recent acquisitions on the play ground, including a 25 metre zip wire. Great fun (we understand!)
The Village Hall is available for meetings, parties, special events, training and education sessions etc.
