10th February 1994 – 30 January 1995 (wood)
29th January 2006 – 17 February 2007 (fire)

A general description of a person born into the Chinese astrological sign of a dog is as follows….

You are honest, faithful and sincere and you give real value in return for affection. You are an agreeable person when in a good mood and to know, know, know know you is to love, love, love love you! … Except when you let rip with a brutal comment or snap sarcastically at poor unsuspecting bystanders!

You have a bark that makes even the most ferocious bite seem painless, but you selflessly redeem yourself by believing in justice for all. You willingly take up worthy causes, you respect tradition and take pleasure in helping people. And if you were in a movie you’d be a knight in shining armour.

You can sniff out deceit and track down fraud and your strong sense of pursuit of the truth can sometimes make you feel a bit pessimistic or suffer disappointment in others, so it’s best to surround yourself with amusing people who are optimistic and can help you maintain a good equilibrium. Such characters include a carefree Tiger, a fantasy loving Horse or a cosy Cat.

When you are happy you are well-meaning, helpful, warm-hearted, modest, philosophical, intelligent and enthusiastic, but on a bad day…you can turn nasty, feel mean-spirited or bad-tempered, and become quarrelsome, nervous, anxious, and sometimes hard to live with! (Oh dear!)

Wood dogs… are said to be profoundly affectionate and tender with a heart as big as their mouth. Wood dogs have a taste for social interaction… they want to know all sorts of people, cultivate different social scenes and mingle with every type of character.

These famous dogs were born in 1934 – Alan Bates, Sofia Lorraine, Shirley Maclean, Elvis Presley, Donald Sutherland and Shirley Jones.

Fire dogs… are enthusiastic and find it difficult to sit and wait patiently without saying a word. They are ingenious and have a childlike quality with a high-spirited personality that makes you like and trust them instantly. Fire dogs are so sincere and earnest, people cannot help but listen to them and are drawn into their sweetness.

Famous people born in 1946 include Sally Field, Liza Minnelli, Marianne Faithful Donovan, Diane Keaton, Donald Trump, Timothy Dalton, Cher, Freddie Mercury, Oliver Stone, Sylvester Stallone, Bill Clinton and David Lynch

Earth dogs… are reserved. They believe in causes and Crusades, he loves justice and longs for a better world. But the Earth dog is no zealot, he is cooler and more laid-back than his fellow dogs and is nonconfrontational.

He’s highly sensitive, is easily affected by changes in the weather or even a tiny shift in the atmosphere around him. He may be squeamish, and his radar picks up the merest criticism or sharp remark (which can affect him because of being so touchy and fragile). This dog is quiet and prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

Famous dogs born in 1958 include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Bacon and Daley Thompson (Madonna obviously isn’t aware she is a shy earth dog!!)

Metal dogs… wants to change the world. He is strong minded, generous and self-sacrificing. He is said to be perfection! Metal dogs love personal missions. They’re logical, zealous, methodical and rigorous. They don’t like violence or upheaval, preferring gentle or civilised methods. Metal dogs long to be understood and loved.

Famous metal dogs born in 1970 include Kirk Cameron and Andre Agassi

Water dogs…can be quite difficult to get to know; they can seem stand-offish and aloof when you first meet them. They can seem aggressive, but actually they are kind and will be the first to jump to the rescue to someone, they feel, is being badly treated. This dog is more feminine than the rest, having a gentle nature, and is able to express and understand complex emotions.

Famous water dogs born in 1922 include Judy Garland, Kingsley Amis, Franco Zeffarelli, Ava Gardner, Shelley Winters, Blake Edwards and Michael Bentine.
